How do you want to change your world?

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

It’s been a week since President Obama’s Inauguration Address and one phrase has stuck in my mind…

“The world has changed and we must change with it.”  Yes, I know.  His theme has been change, so why am I surprised?  I’m not surprised at the words - but I am surprised at how this time the words have stuck with me.

The statement itself is both true and provocative…

True:  no one will argue the world has changed.

Provocative:  true that in response to a changing world, we must change…but the question is “how?”

Coaches deal in change.  Our clients want changes in their lives.  We engage in relationships with our clients dedicated to change and we provide structure and process designed to facilitate change.

The questions for our clients are all about change.  The essence of our questions is basically this:  How do you want to change your world?

To my readers who are prospective or new Christian coaches, the question is the same.  I challenge you to consider:  How do you want to change your world?  And then…how will you change your world?

International Coaching Week and Free Coaching

Monday, January 19th, 2009

The Eleventh Annual International Coaching Week takes place February 1-7, 2009.  Jerri Udelson, MCC, founded Coaching Week in 1999 as a way to promote the profession of coaching.  On her website, she describes the event:

“The purpose of International Coaching Week is to provide a week each year to educate the public about the value of working with a personal, business or executive coach and to provide an opportunity for coaches and their clients to acknowledge the results and progress made through the coaching process. Coaches offer a variety of pro bono services in their communities during the week, including free coaching sessions, lectures and workshops.”

If you are participating in Coaching Week you can register your activity at the International Coaching Week site.  Also, there is a contest at www.coachingcommons.org for the “best” coaching week ideas - those that best promote the value and profession of coaching.

Free Coaching…
In honor of Intenational Coaching Week, I’ve opened my schedule Feb 2-6 and am offering free, no obligation 30 minute sessions (via phone) to anyone interested in being coached or becoming a coach. You are invited to schedule with me either online or via email.

  • Schedule your free session online by clicking here.  Pick the most convenient time available - it’s quick and easy!  Or…
  • If you prefer, send an email to request an appointment time.

I look forward to meeting with you!

Everybody Likes Free-Stuff

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

It came to my attention yesterday that there are new Christian coaches unaware of some helpful business tools that are available free.  If this is you, I don’t want you to be left out:

  • For offering a group or training session by phone, you can obtain a free teleconference phone number.  This is your personal number and so you can schedule it at your convenience.  Arrange this at www.freeconferencecall.com .
  • If you want to create a PDF but don’t have the required software on your computer, you can go to www.pdfonline and follow the simple instructions for converting your document to a PDF file.  You upload your file and they send it back to you fairly immediately via email as a PDF.  Again a free service.
  • A survey may be a very helpful tool to facilitate client communications - and contribute to your marketing efforts.  Ask clients to submit information and then use the info you get to develop products and services that delight them.  Sign up at www.surveymonkey.com and take a few minutes to get familiar with this free online survey-creation tool - see how easy it can be.

International Coaching Week

The first week of February is International Coaching Week.  I will be joining other coaches during this week who will be offering free coaching sessions.  My schedule will be open for all who wish to schedule a no-charge coaching session or consultation

So, I’ve cleared the week of February 1-7 on my schedule.  Since this post is the first time I’m announcing the opportunity, email me right now and you might be able to schedule your most convenient time that week.  When you email me, request an “International Coaching Week” free session and suggest a couple of times that work for you.

I look forward to seeing your name on my schedule and meeting with you personally at our scheduled session.
